Message from Susan Janetti

Good Day All,

Phew! This past couple of months have been a whirlwind of activity. We have been getting ready to send another container to Zimbabwe. People have been shopping for supplies, and cleaning out cupboards to send goods and love to Zimbabwe.

All items have been received, sorted, categorized, boxed, and labelled. Thank you to so many who have donated time, energy, and goods. Ron made us 14 wooden crates and supplied many needed tools to go into them. Wow! Harry has been collecting sewing machines, wheel barrows, and trollies, not to mention very practical support i.e. a moving van. Wendy came in and helped me pack every day, plus has been going to thrift stores each week to find black dolls and bibles. Thank you to Ron, Harry, and Wendy. I am reluctant to single people out, but these three have gone over and above the call of duty!! Goods are no longer being accepted; thank all you for your support. We will now truck everything over to Canadian Resource Warehouse on Vancouver Island and ready everything for the last packing into the container and send it on its way. Our most grateful thanks to Dell Marie of CRW (Compassionate Resource Warehouse) and all her volunteers who will do all the final work. They are great people and have a gift for fitting in everything…and more!! The container will leave at the end of September and will arrive in Zimbabwe via Beira in December.

We now must switch gears and raise the funds to ship the container. Our Annual African Dinner will be on Saturday, October 20th. Doors will open at 6pm and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm, followed by a presentation of the work being done and what we plan to do in the future. It promises to be another entertaining evening with door prizes, baskets full of beautiful items waiting to be won, and wine boards. The tables will be set with hand painted Batik tablecloths from Zimbabwe that will be available for purchase. Beaded ornaments made by the children of Zimbabwe will also be on sale (just in time for Christmas and sorry for bringing it up!) Of course, there will be delicious food. I will cater to special diets ONLY IF NOTIFIED AHEAD OF TIME.

Single tickets are available, but it really helps me if you purchase a table of 8 and host your friends or sell them your tickets. Please book early so that I can start planning ASAP! It’s less than 8 weeks away!

Thank you to all for your love, energy and especially your support.

See you at the dinner!!!

I should quickly mention the Art sale will be on the 3rd and 4th of November. See below for more details.

In appreciation.

Bottle returns

Do you have refundable bottles, juice boxes, and cans cluttering your home space? The thought of sorting them all is making you procrastinate? If you would like an easy solution, you can bring them to the White Rock Return It Depot at 3221 140 St, S. Surrey. Just say you want the proceeds to go to account #41, and that's it! You just walk away and don't even have to sort them!

Thank you to all who have contributed to our account so far. We have recently collected $350.

Thank-You for your support!
